Studying by candlelight

There's a little bit of Fiona, I think, that would be happy to have lived in the 19th century. She loved reading historical biographies, the Dear American series, American Girl books, etc. Last night she had her iTunes playing on her computer, but sat at the dining room table, diligently taking notes on AP History, using the light of a candle protected by a hurricane lamp.

"Don't you want better light than that?" I asked her, perplexed.

She shrugged. "It's fine. I've read by moonlight in my bedroom."

Ah, to have young eyes. And to appreciate the romance of studying by candlelight.
