I had my yearly physical with my physician this morning, and Rob took the girls for theirs, a pre-camp check. I talked with my doctor about my knee, asking whether/when I could go back to karate. I mentioned that my karate instructor had offered to give me the name of the doctor who sees all the senior karate instructors for knee injuries. So I'm going to get that name again, and if he's in my insurance network, she'll give me a referral. If not, she'll refer me to a physical therapist who works with runners' injuries. After reading the MRI report she said I should re-start the exercises I got from the sports medicine clinic and do them for about three to four weeks, and then go to someone (either my instructor's doctor, or someone whose name she'll give me) who can instruct me on how to tape the knee to keep the patella secure, before I go back to karate. So . . . another wait, at least a month. Maybe I'll get another one of those rehabilitative massage appointments, while I'm at it. I also need to be wearing the knee brace during karate and on my morning walks. I am also getting a referral to a dermatologist for some moles/spots on the back of my calves that need to be checked out. Not to mention it's time for a mammogram again.
Because I am a hard-ass mommy who is a martinet about making sure the girls have all vaccinations, the girls each got shots today: second varicella booster, meningitis, and Fiona also got the tetanus booster. In addition, Delia had some blood drawn to check her vitamin D levels. They are not happy with me about this and are acting very fragile and whimpery tonight.
