Two good pieces of commentary re: Amendment One and Christianity.

How Evangelicals, with their stand against gay civil rights, are turning off the young from Christianity: How to win a culture war and lose a generation.

A challenge to both sides of the Amendment One debate (from the blog "Crumbs from the Communion table." The author is a gay Christian living in North Carolina.) Edited to add: [livejournal.com profile] piccolo_pirate notes: The author of the "Crumbs from the Communion Table" blog is actually Justin Lee, the Executive Director of the Gay Christian Network, which is a fabulous resource for anyone struggling to reconcile their faith and sexuality, or just looking to find other gay Christians.

From The Next Web here:
In 9 days time [May 15], people all over the world will be coming together with one single aim – to photograph their lives – as part of the global ADay.org project.

As part of an initiative founded by Swedish non-profit, Expressions of Humankind, May 15th has been designated as the day everyone the world over is being asked to pick up their camera and take a photo of what is close to them, and what matters most to them, as part of the ADay.org event.

Explaining the purpose behind the event, the organizers write, "Our mission is to use the power of photography to create, share and inspire perspectives on daily life – today and tomorrow."

So how does it all work? Join the Aday.org site, and on May 15 you will be able to upload the image that you’ve shot, and add information on who is in the picture, and the story behind it. You have until May 22 to upload your images.

All images submitted to the site will be displayed online, while some will be selected for publication in a book, A Day in the World, and others still will appear in digital and print exhibitions.

If you need a little bit of inspiration of your own on what to shoot, some guidelines have been provided. The three main categories, Home, Work and Connections, are further divided into sub-categories, and pretty much cover any topic that could possibly come to mind. If you’re stumped about what you want to shoot, the page is definitely well worth checking out.

I tried this, and it was really surprisingly good: Vegan Fudge, made with no sugar, butter or milk. The secret? Black beans.

Naturally, no one else in my family will eat it. All the more for me, bwahahaha.

I'm still reading news and analysis on it. But the icon really says it all. Thumbs up.

I think the Republicans will realize, oh maybe in the next ten or fifteen years that they were really on the wrong side of history on this. By that time, they will have lost the next generation. My daughters are definitely two of 'em.
