Fiona's explanation why she wouldn't eat the soup I made for dinner last night: "It's too . . . flavorful."

Maybe she's a supertaster. Get out the blue food coloring and find out!

Is it possible that she's a supertaster?

This is why I like you so much. You think like me.

I was wondering that too.

I read that it's extra-common in the Midwest and may explain the prevailing taste for bland food there. I suspect that's an exaggeration, though. ;p

Hey, cool. I should try this with Ericka as she often does not like particular taste combinations. Thanks to you and K for the pointers!

I could certainly understand that she's completely overstimulated, what with everything that is going on.

My kids when younger used to say "Can we please have AMERICAN food tonight?"

They grow out of it eventually. The eleven-year-old adored a Moroccan tagine my husband cooked last night.

If by "airfern" you mean "someone who seems to live on air," the answer is yes!

Hee! Fiona sounds like my son, who recently complimented my husband on making spaghetti "without all of those disgusting herbs and stuff on it." The blander the better is his mantra when it comes to food.
