Why is my LJ client software not working? Very irritating.

As today is Monday, my evening smidgen of time is devoted to Rob's and my weekly money meeting rather than writing. All progress on the book today therefore was limited to research reaching done during lunch at work. I am beginning Moira Harris' book Fire and Ice: The History of the St. Paul Winter Carnival. I note that she has talked to Bob Olsen, the St. Olaf alum who has written a book I must find on the history of St. Paul Winter Carnival ice palaces. Oddly enough, Moira Harris did not mention it in her bibliography, and yet if she interviewed Olsen, she must have known about it. She also interviewed Larry Millett.

I believe I will try calling some of the local historical societies tomorrow.

You know, you've made me think of one of my beloved childhood books, The Bobbsey Twins at the Ice Carnival. :)

Freddy! Flossie! Nan! Burt!

Is that the one where they make an igloo by tunnelling into a big snow pile and then throwing buckets of water on top?

POINK

Sorry, just always have that reaction to seeing my name in print when it's, well, not me, esp when connected to a book. Just a weird little moment, like when you're climbing stairs and put your foot on a riser that isn't there....

Did you see the list I posted of books on ice palaces? It was a few days ago, in response to your question. The two Bob Olsen books are at the Minnesota Historical Society, though it's always possible that interlibrary loan could get a copy from somewhere you could check out.

Yes, I saw the list, thank you! I printed it out, but I haven't had a chance to go through it.

It's been terrific to have people on my LJ friends list give me directions to find things, suggest areas to research, ideas to explore, etc. The only problem is sometimes I'm a little behind the curve at keeping up!

Have you checked eBay and half.com for the book you're looking for?

I'd checked abebooks.com, but not eBay or half.com. I'll give them a try! Thanks.

If you can't find a used copy, don't forget that there's always Interlibrary Loan.
