So for lack of a better idea, I'll do what Kij Johnson calls a Princess Moonbeam entry:

five phrases you use:
* You can make different decisions than I do
* Watch me not care
* Oddsfish!
* I'm going to write a cookbook someday called Cooking for Ingrates
* Close the damn door!

Five things that amuse you:
* [livejournal.com profile] cassieclaire's Very Secret Diaries
* A different take on Hamlet
* A page to go to if you've been cruising too long on the Internet
* Georgette Heyer
* Jane Austen

five snacks you enjoy:
* Starbucks espresso brownies
* microwave chocolate cake
* a banana with chocolate chips, microwaved for two minutes, then slathered with Bailey's Irish cream
* popcorn with parmesan cheese
* butterscotch microwave pudding

five albums that changed your life:
* Sting Dream of the Blue Turtles
* Loreena McKennitt The Mask and the Mirror
* John Williams Star Wars
* The soundtrack to Cyrano de Bergerac
* Indigo Girls Swamp Ophelia

five things above your desk:
* A button that Joel Rosenberg gave me that says "So I haven't been writing lately. Neither has Shakespeare."
* A braid of my hair, about six inches long
* Sam and Frodo action figures (on top of my computer monitor, actually. They keep orcs away from my office)
* A complete set of Shakespeare from 1844 that belonged to my grandmother
* A picture of Kij Johnson, wearing a plastic dog nose

five things you can't live without:
* books
* computer
* chocolate
* coffee
* a microwave

five good things to touch:
* my daughters' tummies
* Rob's beard
* silk
* beads
* velvet

five things you'd buy if you had a grand:
* Eileen Fisher designer wear. I always loved how it looks in the store, and I've never bought a single piece because it's so damn expensive.
* a gift certificate to a good bookstore (one with a coffee shop attached)
* The original painting for my second novel (if he'd sell it for that low a price, which I doubt!)
* a professional massage every month for a year
* more of Elise Matthesen's necklaces

my five

five phrases/words you use:

  • Exxagerated & dramatically inflected variations on "dude" (fully aware of how

    cliche/passe/silly this is)

  • Whatzit? (serves for What? What is it? Huh? Excuse me?)

  • Doggus (dog)

  • 3M? (short form of "What is your major mental malfunction?")

  • Holy _____ ______, Batman! (and other Robin-speak variations thereof)

five things that amuse you:

  • Patrick & Liam (my sons - Patrick is allot of fun and Baby Liam's giggles are

    infectious)

  • My brother Jake - when together we seem to create a chain reaction bouncing stories

    back and forth between each other until everyone is laughing so hard tears are running down

    there cheeks us included.

  • British funnies (Red Dwarf, Black Adder, etc)

  • Silly people. I saw a great truism once, it read something like: "Angels can fly

    because they take themselves lightly." I am amused by and enjoy people like myself who are

    content to be goofy.

  • Dirty jokes. Not too dirty (read as "foul"), but fun dirty (read as not hurtful of

    anyone, but a wee bit to ripe for polite conversation).

five snacks you enjoy:

  • Pita & Hummus

  • Coffee (is coffee a snack? It is for me! :))

  • Day glow orange cheddar peanut butter crackers

  • Halva

  • Evergreen rolls (sushi)

five albums that changed your life:
note: not sure any album had that dramatic of an effect on me, but some I really really

liked, in no particular order, were:

  • U2 - The Unforgettable Fire

  • King Crimson - Perfect Pair

  • Led Zepplin - Houses of the Holy

  • Beattles - White

  • Talking Heads - Making Sense

five things above your desk

  • Poster from last years Wooden Boath Festival

  • Pokemon picture drawn by Patrick

  • Action figure from Spawn comics which I've never read, but found him at Toys R Us and

    had to have him. He's kinda of a robot/cyborg thing. He's very poseable and is currently

    standing atop my tower looking skyward (ceiling-ward).

  • Small porcelain cow toothpick holder one of my coworkers brought back to me from

    Wisconsin.

  • lifesize plastic skull with purple superballs for eyes from Archie McPhee (http://www.mcphee.com/).

five things you can't live without:

  • My lovely wife

  • My boys

  • Coffee

  • Open water. I get really weirded out after a while when visiting some place like

    Arizona. I need the sea or at least a large lake nearby to feel at ease.

  • Fiction. I gotta read. My mind needs quiet outside and action within. I gotta read and

    I only read fiction. Mostly fantastic fiction.

five good things to touch:

  • the sand & sea with my toes

  • Baby Liams little toes

  • Patrick's ears (pull!)

  • Erika's hand (clasped in my own)

  • My keyboard (grin!)

five things you'd buy if you had a grand:

  • Jewelry for Erika

  • New computer for Patrick

  • Used Kiln maybe.. or anvil.. I'd like to try some craft stuff. I've thought about

    pottery and recently of smithing

  • Recumbant bicycle (http://emc2.acu.edu/physwww/5DepartmentalInformation/Faculty/DrSchulze/vision.gif) (these are really cool!)

  • A getaway to Hawaii for Erika & I
