Reason for stopping: I gotta get to bed, really.
Notes: With a little experimentation, I have determined that blood will stick to the surface and spread when dripped onto a marshmallow. However, the blood will wash off if you dunk it in water. Therefore, Jack will cut the marshmallow in two, drip the blood on the cut part inside, and then jam it back together before threading it onto the fish hook.
Mood: Blah. This may be more a result of the fact that I didn't get as much cleaning on the house today as I would have liked, and I am irritated with myself about that rather than about the writing.

This is also the first time I have admitted publicly how few total words I have (and how few total pages). Makes me feel rather vulnerable. How embarrassing. However, sola plura verba hic liber requiret.

Since I was out of the country last week, I had to go back a few posts to see what on EARTH you were doing with marshmallows and blood. Sounded like some sort of Halloween or camping treat for vampires. ;-)

I'm assuming this is some form of ice-fishing bait?

yes, ice fishing bait!

(Hmm, idea: I might have Solveig make a crack somewhere along the lines that perhaps a vampire might enjoy the doctored marshmallow while making s'mores. Thanks.)

*notes your added comment about total book length thus far*

I know you've been hacking at this project for awhile, and there's still a ways to go, but it's already far longer than any single-story writing I've done, EVER, except for one, and right now I'm having trouble writing anything, so I admire your 51 pages. And it's coming. Slowly, maybe, but surely. Believe in your motto. :)

With humble apologies for the dreadful run-on sentence in the above comment. Clearly, I need to go to bed.

Fifty-one pages is A LOT to me. That is about 1/5 of my YA novel.

Wild Swans was about 600 pages in manuscript, I think.

Wow, that seems like so much book to me.

It was double-spaced in manuscript, mind you! I think it was about 104,000 words. Is your page count based on single-spaced or double-spaced?

My books are nearly *half* that word count, about 60-65K.

Strangely, they appear to be under 300 pages, which must be a margin and font thing.

Oh, and I completely didn't answer your question. Yes, my page count is double spaced.

Don't you want to write YA now? :D

I'm genuinely impressed by how many pages you have so far. It's a heap more than you had this time last year.

Perhaps one way to look at it is by thinking about your Eowyn Challenge journey and how it may have initially seemed daunting because you had so far to travel, but you made your goal, one step at a time. You'll make this goal, too, one step at a time. One word at a time, one sentence at a time, one page at a time. You can do it! :-)

I remember celebrating when I hit 10,000 words on my novel, so I think 12K is definitely a good chunk.

I am pretty sure that's more words than I've written total on all of the things knocking around in my head, so kudos!

I do quite like the idea of turning the Walk into the Write, though. *looks thoughtful*
