Partly because of holiday madness and partly because of my computer problems, I haven't checked e-mail or my friends page for a week. We had a lovely Christmas, and to some extent it is still going on: my family is in town and will be until after the New Year. I'll be spending lots of time traveling back and forth to my sisters' houses (where other relatives are staying) until I go back to work next week.

As I said, it was a lovely Christmas: dinner on the 23rd at Rob's brother's, my sister's on Christmas Eve, home Christmas morning just me and the girls where we had our traditional Christmas breakfast and opened stockings and presents, and then we drove to Eau Claire, Wisconsin for Christmas Day dinner with Rob's other brother (his wife is quite pregnant and can't travel).

Here is the letter Fiona wrote Christmas Eve:
Dear Santa,

Hi! the two little stokings above mine & Delia's are for our most precious dolls Kit and Kirsten. Please fill those too. Kits is above Delia's And is from 1934. Kirsten's is above mine and is from 1854. Is it possible to fill them with stuff from their times? If so please do. Merry Christmas and happy new year.

sincerely,
Fiona
&
Delia

P.S. we made the cookies ourselfs.
P.P.S and the stockings!
The girls were ecstatic over their Christmas presents. We got them each a big present: a keyboard for Delia so she can start taking piano lessons, and a sewing machine for Fiona. Much happy dancing resulted.

I'll try to spend a little time catching up on my friends pages: I still feel out of touch. I still can't download e-mail, however, and won't be able to for a few more days.

Chocolate coins and a peppermint stick. They were a last minute surprise to Santa Claus, who rose to the occasion as best he could.

Thank you, Ericka! Peter had already mentioned your kind willingness to help, and we will keep it in mind. She is already taking a sewing class at school, however, and I think can get most of her questions answered there. She is very excited to have her own machine. We'll keep you posted on her progress. She has already made a hat and scarf and pillow at her sewing class, and is very proud of her own work.

I'm awed by Fiona's grasp of the Temporal Stocking Anomaly.
