In honor of the Professor's birthday, I refer you to the Quenya Baby Name book here.

My name in Quenya is Marille.

Fiona's is Vanye.

Rob's is Alcarcalimo (in Sindarin, it is Aglargalad).

And alas, poor Delia. There is nothing listed for her name.

Thanks for the link. My Quenya name is Almaresáre, which I like better than Unawen (which has been my elf name for the past year).

Wah, there's nothing listed for mine either... but Darius is included, and Darice is a variant of Darius, and so is Daria. So I'll claim the Daria ones: Máreharne or Máraharne.

Hurray! Am elf. Still the prettiest. ;)

Hmmm. I've used Silme for years since it means starlight, as does Ellen. Well, more-or-less. :) But the closest here is Helen -- Alce.

Hmmm. :)

Nothing listed for "Genevieve," alas - although it usually gets translated as "Woman," so I could probably look that up.

I'm Illisse.

If you assume that Delia is the same name as Cordelia, and look up Cordula, which means heart, which is a possible meaning for Cordelia, Delia's name could be Holle.

Here's how my family worked out (had to do a bit of "crow-barring" in a couple of places...)

David Charles = Lavir Mirimon
Phyllis Ann (my sister) = Lassea xxxxxxx
Jeffery Keith (my brother) + Erusero xxxxxxx
Charles David (my father) Mirimon Lavir
Cleora Belle (my mother) Alcare xxxxxx (maybe...)
Carrie Piper (sister-in-law) Moriel/Lomiel xxxxx
Charles William (oldest nephew) Mirimon Merthol
Jeffery Cole (youngest nephew) Erusero Turelio (maybe...)

Now that I think about it...

Back in the days when everybody was in a writer's group Val Lies, Sue Grandys & I started one up, and played around with a "shared world" based on our belly dance troupe (Troupe MonHarr), that used to perform at Minicon (and at Worldcon. Val Lies was listed in the program book as the moderator, to which she commented, "How do they expect me to moderate _Belly_Dancers_??). Young Dr. Raymond once read one of our stories and told me he really like our naming system. "It actually seems to make sense."

"Well, that doesn't really surprise me," I told him. "All we do is take the first three letters of the first name of the person we're basing the character on, then add the last three letters of their last name..."

He nearly hit me.

My net-name's Arne by this, or Aran in Sindarin. I like it.

Lots of these would make perfectly respectable names for children nowadays. And it'd have to beat all the kids getting named Arwen or Lorien (although I quite like Lorien.)
