I had no idea that this was a tell-tale sign of ones career ending. If I ever have a career as a writer I will be sure to watch for it. Are there other signs writers should watch for :)
If it's any consolation, I've never sent a holiday card to a client. I always SAY I'm going to do it, but I never seem to find the time. I figure they'd all rather I was reading manuscripts and making sales than addressing soon to be tossed in the trash greeting cards.
Now, now. Let's be realistic. Your agent's *secretary* didn't send it. Or your agent had the kind of holiday season the rest of us seemed to, and is just now sitting down, looking around the living room, and thinking, "Okay, now I can start on my cards! What do you mean, *January*?"
Zigzactly. Or it could be that your agent is thinking, "Hmmm, Peg Kerr is probably in seclusion writing a BRILLIANT NEW NOVEL right right now, so I couldn't break her concentration by sending her mail."

(good lord, how does one spell that?)
Anyway: You are writing a book that's going to be wonderful. Your career is definitely not over! :)
