A new, weird stage
Oct. 15th, 2002 08:16 amFiona has asked for, and received, permission to read Emerald House Rising.
I am mildly surprised to discover how nervous this makes me feel.
First I had to get used to the idea of my mother reading my fiction. And now my children.
Oy. She was in utero when I wrote the damn thing.

Awww.
Date: 2002-10-15 06:03 pm (UTC)I went to high school with the daughter of Margaret George. Allison brought in the first-off-the-press copy of "The Autobiography of Henry the Eighth" to show off to the rest of the choir. She was _so_ proud of her mom, it was a very cool thing to see. And, I've heard that Anne McCaffrey's son will tell strangers in airports, "You're reading my mom's book!" when he sees someone reading one of the dragonbooks. Your daughters will be your biggest fans someday. Even if they're saying "Get out of my life, mom!" to your face, behind your back they'll be bragging to their friends, "See that book on the shelf there? _My_mom_ wrote that."
