General career related:

Tonight, I reviewed the list of panels at Minicon and e-mailed the committee to ask to be on two or three. I e-mailed several people about the reading on March 22, e-mailed David Lenander who maintains a webpage for me, to give him my new e-mail address and a more recent picture.

Book related:

Pulled up the novel file and went through and cleaned up weird random character changes due to the transfer between Windows and Apple. I have ideas for continuing the scene on Lake Nokomis, although it is getting too late to continue tonight. I had been stuck on two particulars: how, specifically, does Solveig talk to the fish when it comes down to it? It's about ten degrees out (F) in December/January. She's not going to get into the water or stick her head in it. I came upon a solution that satisfied me, which I will try writing next time I can sit down to write.

That still leaves me with the second problem, however, and I am no closer to an answer than I was when I first wondered: What does the fish say to her?

I can't remember if you've seen this before or not, but in today's paper (SF Chronicle) I saw an ad for an ice hotel/ice museum in Alaska. I thought of you (of course). Here's the URL, with pictures and info:
http://www.chenahotsprings.com/icehotel.html
I hope it's in some way useful or inspiring.

Best of luck with the book--you have many readers waiting for you and rooting for you.

Whatever it is that you don't want them to be saying, because it would just mess up EVERYthing: that is what they're saying to her. (Try that one on for size.) (Have you heard my rant about the musical Martin Guerre? Maybe I'll post it on my own livejournal.)

To get to the other side?

I'll now go off to sleep, dreaming of fish and their sayings...

You don't know me, but I friended you after seeing a comment you made in ame-chan's LJ. So glad to see you deep in the process again. I'm a writer, never published.

The fish, of course, says fishy things. Be quiet and let it talk, now.
