Supplemental LJ moods for mood set
Apr. 21st, 2005 08:25 pmI've often wished that LJ offered some other mood options. I've made some additional ones for myself, using my LOTR icons. This is mostly posted for my own reference, so that I can add them to future entries. (
fireflowerlass, you may wish to take note). The main mood set is here.

Date: 2005-04-22 01:32 am (UTC)I always wish for a 'bemused' or a 'befuddled' mood. *sigh*

Date: 2005-04-22 03:36 am (UTC)I need to make some new icons, but need to load the software on my laptop, first. My lovely icon-making software won't work on my new Mac.

Date: 2005-04-22 01:54 am (UTC)It makes me wistful. A while ago, I was compiling a list of feelings for use with the teens I was working with. They seemed to have such difficulty knowing what they were feeling, and had such a limited vocabulary for it - and if you don't have words for feelings, it's hard to figure them out, so, for instance, the distinctions between being irritable in general, frustrated by a specific task or interaction, angry at a person, or full of undirectable rage was entirely lost, and those differences are important.
So I was making a list. The long-term project which did not get completed before I got canned was to write up brief definitions for each one, and provide it as a resource sheet, along with some kind of worksheet for them to fill out that would make them actually use it at least once. ("When I have trouble in school, it's usually because I feel _________." "The person who makes me feel ignored most often is _______." etc.)
The shorter-term project was a closed box with a hand-sized hole in it, filled with slips of paper, each one with a different feeling word on it, for use as a prop in groups. The kids each had to take three, ask about any words they didn't understand, and then pick two of their three and tell about a time when they felt whatever it was. I made this up on a whim, created the box on a slow evening, and was surprised at how well it worked.
If I'd ever looked at the mood list, I could probably have added all sorts of things to it. What a waste.

Date: 2005-04-22 02:08 am (UTC)Also, "sore" never seems sufficient enough if you're in pain. To me, that's something you use after a good workout, but not if you have a headache, cramps, or an injury.
I *know* there's been many times when I've wished for a specific non-existant mood (although you *can* force it, using one of the existing icons) but right now I can't think of what most of those are.
