The taxes are sorta almost done. Rob needs to get the software for the state taxes. (Why he doesn't have it already? Let's not go there.) I'm hoping the whole ugly sordid mess will be done within the week.

He finally loaded the shells of the accounts I need to start entering Quicken (but not the old data. Won't translate from Windows machine. Must start fresh with January 1st of this year). I started tonight, but quickly ran into trouble because Quicken on the Mac is new to me. Once I have it figured out, I have four months of account bookkeeping to catch up. Writing is just going to have to take a back seat until I have this caught up (advantage: catching up on the Quicken will simultaneously be cleaning up my office, because I'll finally get all these damn statements off the floor).

Don't know how long this will take, people, but it's going to take a while. I will try to at least think about the book during that interval. I have a hunch that when I get back to it, I might start with the scene set in the Walker Sculpture Garden, which may necessitate a site visit.

Quicken offers online backups for about $20 a year. I've used it for the last several years. It's automatic (if the computer's on), and runs nightly. I'd recommend it.

Squee! I'm so excited.

Oh, wait...sorry. Thought you were going to take a trip to Seattle to see the Walker Rock Garden

Ah, well.
The Walker Sculpture Garden is without a doubt much more sophisticated than the Walker Rock Garden. But the
Rock Garden is still pretty keen.

I don't know what all you need to enter, but have you checked to see if your bank/etc allows you to download old statements? Both my bank and my credit cards keep about 4 months worth of statements online, which was lovely back when I used to actually keep track of my finances. (I got out of the habit when I had no money, and it was depressing to keep detailed records of exactly how little money I had.)

Give me a shout when you're up for a visit to the Walker Sculpture Garden. I've been wanting to take some photos there but haven't been inspired to wander that way by myself.
