Lungs do take a long time to heal, as someone else said (my experience is about 6-12 months after an acute asthma issue or major lung-affecting thing: substantial improvement within 1-2 months once it starts getting better, but the final portions take a while.)
The air quality in the Twin Cities has also been seriously not-great this weekend, so be extra careful for a bit. (Though the storm system that's blowing through right now may help out a bit.)
