Here is the result of the state attorney's inquiry into Gov. Jeb Bush's request that Michael Schiavo be investigated over the circumstances of his wife's collapse.

Letter from State Attorney Bernie McCabe to Governor Bush.

Memorandum on Schiavo Case to State Attorney Bernie McCabe from Prosecutors Doug Crow and Bob Lewis.

Bottom line: Pinellas-Pasco State Attorney Bernie McCabe says he could find no evidence that Michael Schiavo caused his wife's collapse 15 years ago.

In a June 30 letter to Gov. Jeb Bush, McCabe suggested ending the state's inquiry into the case.

Bush responded Thursday in a two-sentence letter to McCabe: "Based on your conclusions, I will follow your recommendation that the inquiry by the state be closed." Read more here.

Thank goodness. The long nightmare seems to be finally over.

Oh . . . one more thing. Jeb Bush needs to be voted out of office. [Edited to add: Apparently term limits will take care of this--as far as Florida's governorship goes. Heaven forfend he run for any other office.]

Oh, Jeb definitely needs to be voted out of any and every office. My reasons have nothing to do with the Schaivo case, however. I see so much mishandling of that case all the way along that it does not need comment except to note that I found it difficult to accept the findings of the autopsy could be so definite about When Terri became blind etc when she suffered a full 21 days of starvation immediately preceeding her death. Knowing that and seeing first hand and frequently the reactions of a brain to even a short time of sugar starvation, I cannot help but wonder at the definite times of blindness and cessation of brain activity stated by that coroner. Even with my doubts, however, I deplore the circus that surrounded the Schaivo family for the last year of Terri's life.

As for Jeb Bush, I think he is one of the worst things Florida has ever had to endure. He has made our education system little more than a series of seminars on how to take and score high on the FCAT. Learning in our state is now based on that test. School funding is based on that test and success for both teacher and student is based on how well their class, school and individual test scores compare to the rest of the state and to the norm. We are, therefore, often graduating a student who can pass the FCAT but who doesn't know how to think, cipher well, or create a damned thing. I think that it is terrible and will come back to haunt us as a state and as a nation in the years to come.

If only Jeb would spend that much time and effort and money into locating the foster children that have disappeared on his watch.

Well, I hope the response to his "inaction" by the far right will keep him from pursuing further elected offices. They think he wimped out on the whole thing, first by not going in with troops when the woman was still alive and again now that he is calling the case offically closed.
