Thanks so much for both links.

I hadn't even thought of blaming the victims, and fortunately I haven't read others doing so, but I know it does go on. For one thing, I think people are too scared to think that such bad things can just happen to anyone, which would of course include them, so they literally add insult to injury. This happens with chronic diseases and disabilities as well as disasters.

I think it's really funny that the map lists "Mormons" in the one area that isn't marked for some other kind of disaster. Maybe G-d really did tell them to move there!

*laughs and laughs and laughs*

Please check out my response below. Utah has PLENTY of natural disasters. I've covered about all of 'em in my short life so far.

Oh, yeah. I'm right smack dab in the dark green "big f*cking earthquakes" region. Watching how ineffective the government response has been is strengthening my resolve to have some sort of emergency plan in place.

I lived and grew up in Utah. The Mormons ain't the only natural disaster that place is afflicted with. I left a list in trollprincess's journal, but it also includes: Flooding, Mudslide, Forest Fires, Earthquake, Tornado, Avalanche, Snow and Ice Storms, Drought, Overpopulation, and Religion in General.

Ah, so the square should really be labeled "Potpourri"!

I wholeheartedly agree with Lynch's essay, although he said it better.

I would comment on the map, but apparently [livejournal.com profile] trollprincess has banned me from her LJ. Since I have never even seen or heard of her before, I have no idea why this is, but apparently it is so. Still funny, though.

Yeah, I saw that earlier today.

*Thinks about it* Do you think that people will finally start to see how clueless this guy is?
