Tomorrow is the Twin Cities Marathon.

This editorial made me cry while reading the newspaper this morning.

I still miss Paul Wellstone terribly.

Thank you for posting that link. I would have missed it otherwise, as I don't check the Strib as much as I'd like to. It made me cry, too.

Likewise.

As Greg Brown puts it, "I want my country back."

Gah. Just when I was already having trouble with my sinuses. But then, I also cried just from reading Al Franken's chapter in "Lying Liars" on Paul Wellstone's memorial service.

What a lovely tribute to wake to on a Sunday morning. It made me cry, as well. There were many of us just across the border in Wisconsin who loved Paul Wellstone too. When he was first elected, I remember my father saying, "He'll never make it - he's too honest, too earnest. They'll eat him alive." But as the years rolled by and he showed the size of his heart and the strength of his convictions, it became apparent that Minnesota was the luckiest of states - and by the Wisdom of Minnesotans, we were a lucky nation to have someone like Paul Wellstone in our corner. His loss is felt more keenly than ever nowadays. Thanks for pointing this out, Peg.

Thank you for the link. I never knew much of him until he was gone. Such an improbable man, the force of his _goodness_ powering his political success. I cry at the thought that such a man can have led so powerfully in these times. But although I have tears for a man I never knew, the ocean swell of love for him that continues to rise up in his absence buoys me with hope at what is possible.
