I don't watch television myself, but I thought all the Buffy fans out there would enjoy this article which Rob showed me, written by a Ph.D. candidate in ecology at Stanford, using ecological models to estimate the number of vampires in Sunnyvale.

Nice to see all that expensive education used to examine the really important questions.

If I had only thought that statistics and ecological models could be used for something so fun, I might have paid more attention in college and gotten better grades. (was a Ecology/Bio major in undergrad).
