Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] nmalfoy:

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want, either good or bad. I promise not to come after you with a SPOON either way.

When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your LJ and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.

I remember first reading your entries on aome's friends page. I was immediately drawn in by the lovely descriptions of the day to day going ons of your family!

I remember meeting you at Nimbus and watching you bust a move at the FA party, and I was thinking "Girl can get DOWN!" :D

While, as I remarked to [livejournal.com profile] markiv1111, my memories of people don't often gel into specific incidents (they tend to form a web of associations that make up that person in my head), I recall sitting in on the conversation between you, [livejournal.com profile] minnehaha B. and, I think [livejournal.com profile] gerisullivan at a Minicon at the downtown hotel with that glass dome at the end of the consuite. You were talking about the fish in your Ice Palace novel and B. was incredulous that you would be cheating by just be making stuff up.

I remember everyone talking about you shaking your groove thang on the dance floor at Nimbus. And sitting and talking to you for a while on those couches in the hotel lobby. You were (and are) so easy to talk to and get to know and you let me pick your brain about writing.

One of the first things I remember of our interaction (privately, not just on PoU), was you apologizing to me for using a H.C. Andersen fairy tale in your book. Apology schmology - that's one of the best books I've ever read! I'm still trying to get my hands on "Emerald House Rising". For some reason, that's much more difficult than first anticipated.

After casual friending for over ten years at MiniCon and such seeing the surprised look on your face as you connected my last name to me at the spring pool party.

When you first posted on the HPFGU list, and I saw your name and I couldn't believe it was you. Was that more than 5 years ago? Wow.

Lots of things, but to pick out just one or two....

I remember that you helped me get a book autographed by Patricia Wrede and [livejournal.com profile] 1crowdedhour and I got a bonus surprise out of it, too. You have always been so generous with your time and energy when it comes to things like that, and I'll never forget it.

I also remember a couple of really fun RPs. :D

Most recently, I remember your stopping to chat with me on that beautiful, sunny August day when you stopped by my table in the Community Exhibitor's tent at the Powderhorn Art Fair.

I remember seeing you at Nimbus during the Slashers' Screening of the first two movies, and you were singing those fantastic house songs. I wish you'd been able to sing all of them!

I don't even know if you remember this, but several years ago when I was at camp, I left my address for my LJ friends and you were one of the people who wrote me. You sent me a postcard and I just remember how it made my day that someone I really didn't know took the time to send me mail at camp. It really meant a lot to me.

I connect you, always, with the first time I talked directly to you, when I was gathering input for Penny's baby book. You sent me two short pieces.

I've heard so many good things about your work (though I've never gotten around to buying any, and nobody ever sends review copies our way) that when I saw your name on some particularly sensible comments, I had to FL you. I've never regretted it! Your responses to my comments have been heartening.

After Aome mentioning you in her blog, I popped over and found myself snuggling into your life. Your warm descriptions of family, faith and writing are lovely. You feel like the sort of person one wants to have a cup of coffee or tea with.

I don't have enough true memories built up yet, but I wanted to let you know why I'm here.

I had just finished reading "The Wild Swans" and I remember I wrote you an email telling you how much I enjoyed it and how reading it allowed me to cry all over again for the loss of my friend Keith to AIDS. Since then I've recommended the book to several of my friends who miss Keith as much as I do. They've all expressed how much they enjoyed reading it, too.

I remember watching you dance at Nimbus, and being really surprised to see you seriously shaking your money maker. However, in retrospect, I'm not sure why I was surprised at all.

A number of people have remarked that they have a strong memory of me dancing at Nimbus.

Apparently I made quite an impression.

My favorite Nimbus memory of you guys was the pic I took of you late one night on Rob's lap.

Let's see... I did meet you at Nimbus but I don't know if you'd remember, and I had a different username then anyway. But hey, earlier tonight on Nancy's poll meme, we both picked Susan B Anthony, and I wanted to send you a high-five. :D

Not so much a memory as gratitude for the insights you've provided, both into your professional life and your role as a mother and wife. ^_^
