I'm on the Advent planning team, and I'm going to suggest to the choir director that we sing this rendition of Silent Night at the Christmas eve service.

We really need it, in this time of war.

(Peace, Peace/Silent Night by Rick & Sylvia Powell).

I love that piece! It was always my favorite song they sang at the Christmas concerts at Hope.

I have always loved "Peace, Peace." Our church has used a very simple version of it on Christmas eve for the last decade or so. The descant is sung during the lighting of the candles to a guitar accompaniment, then the congregation is brought in on "Silent Night." We end with the last verse of "Silent Night" a capella. Ten years this year, and it has not lost an iota of its beauty or power. I can send it to you, Peg - though all I have is a photocopy I received from some long-forgotten source.

Thanks, but I was able to scare up a copy from another source and sent it to the choir director, and she's definitely interested, so perhaps we will do it this year. I hope so. I agree: it's certainly lovely.

I've never heard this version, and I've just bookmarked that page for as long as it lasts so that I can go back and listen to it again. It's heartbreakingly beautiful. Thank you for that.
