Happy boxing day and FUPS
Dec. 26th, 2002 09:17 pmI was back at work today, which was really quite a waste of my time because none of my attorneys were in. The girls did not go to daycare but instead stayed home and played games and dolls with their doting Grandma Mel. Tomorrow, they will be watched by their doting Nana. They are in Grandma heaven.
As I said, I figure I am going to get back to the book after the New Year. I have family in town and will be doing things with siblings and in-laws in the evenings and on the weekends. Before I totally turn back to the book I am also struggling to snatch some time to learn Corel Photoshop because I want to make some Lord of the Rings FUPS ("FUPS" stand for "Frequently Used Phrases" rather like the Jane Austen ones I use all the time, which you can find here). The idea is that you can sprinkle them as additional commentary in your LiveJournal entries. The Austen FUPS style is copyrighted, so I have to vary the design. I managed to find the Ringbearer font online, so plan to be using that. Then, after I design the FUPS, I have to figure out how to upload them; I plan to make them available for others to use. I think I get some free web space from my ISP provider, but heck if I know where it is or how to access it; must research. I know that I also get free web space as a member of SFWA (
kijjohnson, how does that work???)
Just a few of the phrases for which I plan to make icons:
With Sam's permission, we will call that settled
You seem to be coming to your senses again
You have a stout heart
Very ridiculous of you, Frodo!
The worthies of Bree will be discussing it a hundred years hence!
Do not speak of such things!
Glory and trumpets!
Gandalf has been saying a lot of cheerful things like that
Begging your pardon
You speak gravely
Do not let us be hasty
Other suggestions?

Cheers,
Peg
