Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] daisy_gamgee for pointing to this link:

I'm a conservative Christian, and this film made me change my mind.

(That's the sort of reaction I was hoping for when I wrote Swans.)

If you haven't seen Brokeback Mountain, what are you waiting for?

Thank you for the link, Peg. I'm linking this on the BBM community I belong to, where folks are a bit reeling after an article posted last night about conservative Golden Globes backlash.

For it to come out on DVD. Because they obviously are not planning to distribute it here.

Because of the security javascript blocks my husband has put in, I can no longer get a day site pass at Salon. Any chance you could C&P the text, or at least some of it, under a cut?

It looks like they took the link from Dailykos, which you shouldn't have a problem with: http://www.dailykos.com/comments/2006/1/15/12450/3023/44#44

And if you're registered at imdb, you can see it on the forums there (link in the dailykos article).

When my sister and I went the theater was filled with a lot of older (over 65) couples, and you know, I've never been in a theater to have had the collective sobbing like this movie provoked. College guys, grandmothers, grandfathers, sobbing. In fact, it did remind me of Swans, no matter how many times I read it, I can't help but cry.

Goodness....really, that's the kind of reaction every writer dreams of, to affect someone like that. Thanks for pointing it out!

For it to be released in this country *g* Next Thursday, the day it opens, is quite helpfully, a public holiday. I'm so going to be first in line.

For it to be showing in a cinema near me. Like, in the same continent would be good.

I saw it yesterday. It was brilliant, and beautiful, and heartbreaking.
