You certainly aren't. This is my 8th book. EIGHTH. And I'm thinking, I really don't think I know how to do this, I really do not think so. It's all over the place.
Books are like lovers or maybe like children. They have different personalities. I recall to this day my utter indignation, when my first boyfriend had had the temerity to break up with me after five years and I was tentatively essaying a second relationship, that everything I knew was wrong, it wasn't the same, it didn't work the same. My mother loves to tell me how I was such an easy kid, she had another one right away, and got my wonderful but profoundly difficult first brother.
The only constant in the process is yourself, but that is oddly enough a comparatively small part of the whole.
I think you are demonstrating a lot of flexibility, and I think you can write this book.
