And, because I don't think I ever told you. I quite enjoyed both of your books - I had just finished a reread of Emerald House Rising when you friendsed me, actually.
Lovely icon. Reminds me that I need to reread the book. I wonder if it'll make me cry as hard on the second reading (that's a good thing, I don't cry over characters and stories I'm )not terribly emotionally invested in, but it was rather odd crying over a book and at the same time not being able to put it down.) Hopefully my copy'll be in one of the boxes of books my mother just sent me. It's a gorgeous book. I'll forever be in awe of anyone who was able to write something that beautiful. Thank you.
And because you are going to be writing and can use a boost, I'd just like to say that someone on my friends list was musing about there being one book for someone which they can hold up and say "by reading this book you will know more about me". For me, that book is The Wild Swans. Thank you, once again, for writing it, and good luck with Solveig et al.
I wanted to buy the original painting as soon as I saw the design he'd made for the cover. Alas, it was a bit much for my budget. I keep meaning to getting around to getting a print at least. The publisher, however, made him airbrush some cloth over Eliza's lovely haunch, which he'd originally left bare, which did not please him at all. You can see that the cloth looks a little different over her right hip.
I was scrolling down in reverse chronological order this morning, so I saw your other post first, but the icon caught my attention right away. I loved that cover, especially this part of it. The texture in her braid was just beautiful. I hope the new icon reminds you of the wonderful things you've achieved, and helps inspire you to do so again.
Well, both girls are going back to school today (I can hear Delia protesting in the other room as Rob is trying to prod her out of bed). Still no hot water. I'm calling the plumber today, whether he likes it or not.

Date: 2003-02-06 11:49 am (UTC)After the plumber comes, put the girls to bed & go soak in a long hot bath. Then write in LJ of your much-needed soak!
By the way, thanks for sending email. No, I don't get email of your reply unless you send it. And forget about me starting my own LJ. No interest!
Hope girls are well enough to stay in school all day.
I will be showing Leigh the Mashmellow Balrog - she will definitely enjoy. I hear her bus - BYE!
