This will no doubt not work as soon as I suggest it. Nonetheless:

Heaping spoon of sugar, hold it in the mouth, swallow it slowly.

...tricking spasming muscles is hard. Good luck. ^^

BOO!

seriously.

100% cure for hiccups. Takes two people. Won't work on children too young to understand.

Get a glass of water, at least four good swallows' worth. Have someone stand behind you, and plug your ears tightly. Once your ears are plugged, drink at least four good swallows of water, steadily, not pausing to breathe. Once you have finished and exhaled, then the person behind you can (let go? unplug? whatever).

Hiccups will be gone. I'm always a little afraid to make this claim, but in the intervening 17 years since this was shown to me (by a male supervisor, I was a bit afraid at the time that it was some weird come-on), it has never failed to work if done properly. Has been tested on self, husband, one child, various friends, a few desperate strangers.

Good luck

Ooh, I hate the hiccups! I've used variations of both of the cures listed; the spoonful of sugar thing works pretty well for me, or what I usually do is just plug my ears and take fifteen good big breaths. I hate having the hiccups, and I hope yours go away soon!
