More Nimbus 2003
Jul. 19th, 2003 12:39 amIt's too late for a long con report. It's 1:30 a.m., and I have an 8:30 panel. On canon issues. The 7/7 panel is in the afternoon, and I think (I hope!) it will be well-attended.
Particularly liked: the panel on the influence of Jane Austen on the HP books. Was very struck by the commentator's pointing out the structural similarities to Mansfield Park to the HP books, perhaps particularly the first. I in turn pleased her by pointing out during the Q and A session the similarity of Percy's letter to Ron to Mr. Collin's odious letter to Mr. Bennett; she hadn't noticed it before.
Quidditch was a blast.
Had an autographing. They've actually sold out all of my books in the dealers room that the bookstore brought, and I believe they said that they had about twenty or so. (The bookseller was rather puzzled about why it was ordered: "This doesn't have anything to do with Harry Potter!" Nevertheless, I'm glad they stocked it.
I introduced the luncheon speaker, Judith Krug, without making a fool of myself, always a plus.
I partied hard at the Fiction Alley birthday party, dancing to such tunes as "I Will Survive," "It's Raining Men," "Shout," "Staying Alive" and "Thriller." The music was DJ'd by
nmalfoy (Marauders' era music). The crowd was probably about 98% woman, most packed together on the dance floor, sweating and grooving.
queerasjohn provided glitter for everyone. Many digital cameras were in evidence, so perhaps someone will post a shot of me boogie-ing down in my emerald green coat.
Later.

I put over nine miles on my pedometer today.
