Here are the icons I have been working on the last several days. Some of these were posted previously. Because there are so many (close to 200), I will post them in two posts of about 100 icons each, alphabetically arranged. You are welcome to take any you like. Credit would be nice.

I plan to work next on a mood set based on these icons and hope to have that up in the next couple of days. I only need phrases for four more moods: exanimate, listless, relaxed and satisfied. If you can think of any Lord of the Rings phrases that fit those moods, let me know!

edited to add: I fixed the spelling on the "End of all things icon" if people want to grab it again. And I was told the code for mood set is off-topic, so visit my journal if you'd like to see it.

Would a good relaxed phrase come from one of our heroes waking in the Houses of Healing?

Here's a great one that I found! It's something that Bilbo says about Rivendell.

I went to the modify mood icons page but it's not an option in the drop down menu. Does that mean I have to load each icon individually? I haven't done much journal customization so I'm not clear on it all.

Thanks.

I'm very new at journal customization myself. This is the first mood set I've done, and the problem is that although I'm willing to share it with others, I don't know how!

The FAQ on mood sets is here. Apparently, the bandwidth limitations on the site means that people can no create mood sets and share them publicly through LiveJournal (i.e., through the LiveJournal drop-down list that you were looking at).

I see that you have a paid account, so you can create a custom mood set if you like, and if you want to use the icons I created, you are welcome to do so. You have to load the icons on a site other than LiveJournal. That's a requirement for the code that reads a mood set. I created an account at Greatest Journal, which allows you to load 1000 icons and 1000 pictures for free. Then I used the custom mood theme editor to tell LiveJournal how to set up the mood theme. There may be a way for me to just give you the icons and code in a zip drive, but I haven't figured out how yet. [livejournal.com profile] leiabelle says there is, and pointed me to an explanation of how she had done so here, but I still don't entirely understand yet what I need to do to help pass the mood set on to other people. So if you're impatient, you can just grab the icons, load them on Greatest Journal, and then set it up using the mood theme editor as I did. Sorry I can't give you more technical help at this point than that! If things change, and I figure it out, I'll let you know.

Lovely - thank you!

If you don't mind, I'd like to use some here and in a roleplaying journal of mine, with credit to you in both places. :)

I'm snagging, "it might have been mine..." right now. I need an icon that mocks my bouts of greed. Thank you!

I've taken a bunch of these, and will credit, of course. I like them. They're simple yet captivating (maybe because they're simple).

In fact I love these so much, I went so far as to adopt the mood set using your instructions. It was a lot of pains-taking work but I'm thrilled with it!

Excellent! I'm so glad that you enjoy it. (And thank you for having the courtesy to upload the icons to your own space rather than just hot-linking to mine!)

I don't think I ever thanked you for the "I am a servant of the Secret Fire..." icon. You are the first person who recognized our email address was a reference to this phrase!

Thank you much!

How do I credit you, though? In the "theme name" part on the custom mood theme page?

May I just say once more...brilliant! :)

I should also mention: if you wish to use the mood set I've created (and you have my permission to do so) it would be best if you copied the icons and uploaded them to your own host, like Greatest Journal or something, rather than hot-linking to my copies on my Greatest Journal account. See my comment to [livejournal.com profile] katakanadian here. The reason for this is that if I ever decided to delete a bunch of icons (I'm not planning to, but you never know; I could if I wanted to), then you would lose your mood set! It's also more polite to make your own copies and link to those rather than hot-linking to mine. That takes bandwidth, and so far it hasn't been a problem for me on Greatest Journal, but if the mood set catches on, and eventually many many people started using it, hot-linking to my account, that could create problems for me, and then I wouldn't be able to use my own mood set anymore.

I know it's a pain, and I'm sorry I'm not technically advanced enough to advise you on how to do it in one step (I have no idea, for example, how to share the icons in a zip drive which I know some people do when they share the mood sets they've created) rather than tell you to upload each icon to your own account and then use the custom mood editor to create a copy of the mood set for yourself. But I would prefer that you copy the icons and then set up a mood set for yourself, rather than hot-linking to mine.
