At the exact moment that Bush's ultimatum to Saddam Hussein came to an end, I was at my church for the beginning of the Lenten service. We use the Holden Evening Service, written by Marty Haugen. I could feel tears rolling down my face as we sang the evening hymn, about coming together at the peaceful close of the day, about how the light shines out in the darkness, and the darkness cannot overcome it.

I think that the Writer's Almanac poem for today was well-chosen.

With a heavy heart,
Peg

I don't know what faith you practice but ... man, Marty Haugen wrote a lot of stuff. We sang his mass parts and other things all the time when I was in the choir.

And ... very pretty ice palace. Looks like Cinderella's castle. :)
