A modest payment into the feds, a modest refund from the state. Together they net out at about zero.

We will be filing on time (with about an hour to spare) which is the equivalent of about an extra month for Mr. Rob.

I have not throttled my husband (tho' sorely tempted).

That makes this year a win, I guess.

Edited to add: Rob says: "I can even drive the speed limit to the post office."

I may just throttle him after all.

We extended. I don't know why but every time tax time rolls around, I get catatonic with panic and the husband gets cranky and then I cry and he snaps and then we extend.

Every. Steenkin. Year.

We're so anal about taxes that we file very soon after receiving all the appropriate forms from employers and financial institutions.

And I exceeded the speed limit to the post office anyway! ;)

Hey, a zero net is pretty decent, all things concerned. I got modest refunds this year thanks to generous donations to Goodwill and such. My tax program (on-line Turbo Tax) had a calculator for the value of donated goods which gave them higher value than I would have guessed. Given your recent decluttering, it might be worth investigating for next year. I know that I'm now more motivated to look at pruning my closet.

I am quiet spoiled. My husband does the taxes every year, ahead of deadline. This is after the one year, when I was first on maternity leave, and in a complete stupor from new baby/breastfeeding, that he got upset that I hadn't done the taxes yet since I had all this free time at home anyway. Now THAT was a fight.

The time to throttle him is before the agita, not after you've already suffered through it all. Next year, maybe in March or so.
