Nightmares

For once I didn't mind in the least when Rob's alarm went off earlier than usual. It banished the Tyrannosaurus Rex which was coming upstairs, which had been chasing me for what seemed like half the night.

I haven't had a nightmare for quite a while. I vividly remember the T. Rex dream I had from childhood. One of my worst nightmares ever.

Gah. Am exhausted. Want more sleep. Without the T. Rex.

Ah, how the mighty T. Rex has fallen. Its closest relative now the lowly chicken. (Does that help or hurt? I wouldn't want you to have chicken nightmares.....)

I have had dinosaur nightmares since I was a child. Vampires, werewolves, those things didn't scare me. But T. Rex scared me. I had soooooo many cranky nights after I saw Jurassic Park's velociraptors...

I was lucky, dreams-wise, as a kid: I only rarely had nightmares (still true), and my big-creature recurring dream was actually a nice one, about a whale so huge it looked like an island from shore. And the shore looked much like Oregon or Northern California, places I like to be reminded of.

I have mild OCD (basically, as long as I stay out of situations that will scare me, I don't freak out) but the original fear I had was dinosaurs. When I saw Jurassic Park I was so terrified that until I was on medication I had major problems moving around because I was constantly thinking a dinosaur was going to eat me. No matter that I think I would've heard it coming, it was always around the corner.

I haven't had those dreams in years, but I still remember waking up with my heart racing unable to convince myself that they weren't after me.

Lastly, are we doing the "write a blurb about your job for Fiona and Delia" thing this year? Because that might be may favorite day.

That's weird, I had a dream about being in a city invaded by many monsters, doing a last-ditch defense of a high rise. The only one of the monsters which actually had a good chance to nab me was a T. Rex.

My worst nightmare when I was a kid was of a T Rex skelton, like you see in a museum, trying to bite my head off in the basement of my brownie leaders house. Those icky T Rex's seem to pop up everywhere! Gald you's is gone.
