Pho, dammit

Rob has been sick since Friday night. All day long I did my best to hack out my lungs, and by 3:30 I was sick to death of coughing, and I could barely see. I drove home. I decided I was too sick to drive Fiona to karate, and she didn't mind, since she was wheezing so much. She has a doctor's appointment for tomorrow morning.

Rob is no better. Fiona is babysitting tonight.

I asked Delia to drive to a Vietnamese restaurant, forge my name on one of my checks, and bring back pho. I must have pho. She gave me A Look and backed out the bathroom warily, where I was trying to drown my sorrows in the bathtub. It didn't work. I am still alive, my lungs are still trying to drown me, and I must have pho.

*Sigh* There is no help for it. If I want pho, I have to get into the damn car and drive there myself.

I wish my children would just be a little more cooperative.

My mother used to ask me stuff like that. Also she would occasionally ask if I would sleep for her, as she was too busy to do it.

I wish you much pho.

Mmmm. Phoooo.

*semi-advice deleted*

Have good pho-ness. Sadly, I am nowhere I can get any today, and you started a craving in me.

Any chance of begging a neighbor to get you pho? Ugh to everyone being sick. Sipping plain hot water sometimes helps my cough - no idea if it will help you. Coughing sucks.

I am gobsmacked that she didn't grab the car keys out of your hand before you changed your mind. ;-)

Awwww . . . I wish I had seen this. I was so desperate, I went out myself. Thanks anyway, though, Larry! I really appreciate it.

You are so funny, even in the depths of hack-hack-hackiness and pho-deprivation.
Wishing you and your family speedily well.

Lemme see if I've got the number for the pho-fairy. (Hmm, got some faux-fairies, but I don't think that'll work...)

Sorry.

Damn.

I wish I'd read this several hours and two beers ago; it'd have been easy to divert and drop some off on the way home. Now it'd not be a good idea; it wouldn't be wise for me to drive with two beers in me.

I have to keep reminding myself that I have a boy and if that line were said to the boy he would likely (once old enough) take off with the keys, the car, and no likely idea of what he's supposed to be getting.

Sigh.

Coughing

I've been coughing for a few days now and it is no fun. I've been taking over the counter meds that is supposed to loosen the phlegm and reduce coughing. I guess it helps. At church, one of the people I sit with told me the wonders of vinegar. For a cough, he said to put about 3/4 inch (by my estimate) in a glass and fill the rest with cold water. The vinegar water should not have a strong taste. Sip the water when you feel a cough coming on and every now and then.

Well, I tried this. For me, I don't think it helped more than just sipping water all day, which I generally do. I also got heartburn, which may have been from this. So, if this appeals to you, try it for a cough. Having a bad cough is no fun. Mine feels as if there is a stick in my throat.
