Makes me wonder whether anyone is going to bother to vote next time around. Which will just put us in a bigger mess.

He's still playing the "both sides are equally corrupt" card, though.

It's funny; on the left you hear idealogues cynically saying that oh Gore would have done all the same things. And on the right he admits that Gore wouldn't have gone into Iraq, but he can't admit Gore might have done anything he approved of.

Bleah. I suppose I should be appreciative for any reality-based thinking at all from the right.

I don't suppose James Lileks ever game back from post 9/11 crazyland, did he?

And his visionaries of the past are Eisenhower and Truman? Jesus. Not FDR, of course.

I know I'm a lefty, but I was perplexed by the suggestion that Gore lacked "basic competence." I kinda always thought the biggest reason he didn't get elected was because he was too darn smart. *shrug*

Anyway, I'm still happy for people to turn against Bush, the more publicly the better.

It doesn't give me as much happiness. I'm modestly glad that he is helping to push the President into a final two and a half years of irrelevance, but he couldn't vote for Bush again even if he wanted to.

The message that we need to drive home to the base of America is that the GOP machine LIED to them in two campaigns about what Bush was and what his opponent was (not just Gore but also Kerry and McCain), and if they don't like what they have now then they should be more skeptical of whatever the GOP feeds them in 2008. I mean, Jesus, this guy is making the claim that Bush might be the worst President ever but STILL can't conclude that he should have voted for Gore! Eek. We won't have won until we can find the antidote for whatever is being put in the Midwest's punch bowl.

Well, from where I sit (old ACT-UP radical, worked for McGovern in '72, pretty much voted DFL/Democrat until I got sick of it all) both side ARE equally corrupt, so I pretty much go for 3rd party candidates.
