Ha! That was great- and I *so* understand it!! I remember freaking out about Rocky Mt. Spotted Fever when finding a tick on my son's clothing once. The more I read the more freaked out I became. ah, Google.
I post on a parenting message board where, if someone posts something like, "My kid is having this odd problem. We're waiting for a call back from the doctor. Has anyone here seen something like this in their kid?" and then describes one of those could-be-nothing, could-be-fatal clusters of symptoms, the very first piece of advice is usually, "DO NOT GOOGLE. STEP AWAAAAAAAAAAAY FROM GOOGLE." I don't know what it is about Google, but ten minutes with Google can convince even the non-hypochondriacs that they have leprosy when it's really just contact dermatitis from their new laundry detergent.
