We are back. I am very tired, and rather swollen with mosquito toxin. Also, I got a very bad whack on the head when a canoe unexpectedly shifted when we were lifting it off of a rack. If it had been four inches higher, it could have been really dangerous. As it is, there is just a sore lump right above my ear.

We had a good time, but I'm too tired to write a lengthy post about it. Nor am I equipped to be profound about our country's birth. And I wish I could be, since I have been very worried about our country lately. So I'll just send you here, where casacorona kindly posted the Declaration of Independence in its entirety. Oh, yeah, and go read this entry, because damn it, it's MY country, too.

Thank you so much! I had a lovely birthday and celebrated for a full week, ending yesterday. As a milestone birthday, it warranted extra celebration. Now, it's just down to the business of being old.
