Date: 2006-07-24 03:30 am (UTC)I stumbled across your blog a few years ago. I tend to keep track of my favorite author's websites, as that seems to be the best place to find out when they have a new book coming out. I noticed that your blog was linked to your website, so I assumed it was a public document. At the time, you were focusing on the ice palace book, and I would check back every now and then to see if you had finished it. I didn't like to read your blog too much, though, as I didn't want to "spy" into your life.
In recent years, I have become an avid reader of Neil Gaiman's blog, and I became more comfortable with reading blogs in general. Recently, I started checking your blog more often. I enjoy reading your posts, in part because I tend to agree with most (if not all) of your political statements.
I first became aware of your book when I was working with fairy tale revisions. That's no longer my academic focus, but I still greatly admire Wild Swans. In fact, I even taught it once a few years back.
I'm glad that you've added this guestbook feature. It's nice to get a chance to say "hi! I enjoy reading this!" in a non-invasive sort of way.
