Little bird
Jul. 24th, 2006 06:46 pmOn the way home from work, I was startled to discover that a bird had landed on the hood of my car and apparently was in no hurry to leave. It was snuggled right next to the windshield on the passenger side, staring at me through the glass. It rode along with me for about fifteen minutes, and was still there when I got out of the car.
I'm worried about it. It must be a fledgling, and now it is miles away from its nest.
I took a picture, but I couldn't get my camera to download. I don't know the breed.
Later: I drove the girls to karate. The bird was still there. However, there was a torrential rainstorm, the sort where water splashes up from the gutters over the hood of the car. The bird was eventually washed away. I hope it landed on grass and will survive.

But you see, we were late to karate because Delia was having a huge tantrum, and the heavens had opened up and it was just pouring down sheets of water. So I will admit that I was distracted, and I didn't take the time to coax the bird off before starting up the car.
