My new Internet toy is Fitday. I signed up for an account. No, not a public one, because I don't need to tell anyone else how many cookies I am eating. It is very easy. You do have to give them your e-mail, but I queried, and they don't share it with anyone; the only reason that they have it is if you ever forget your password.

You plug the food you eat in and learn whether you are taking in too many calories or not enough, and it tracks whether you are meeting your nutritional requirements. They have lot of food pre-programmed, but you can customize your own foods you eat frequently. It is very easy to use, and I have learned an awful lot in the three days I've had it. I hope it will make me more mindful about my eating.

Best of all: IT'S FREE.

Recommended.

Jenna and I have been using FitDay for quite some time and really like it. I especially like going into the "Reports," and finding out how the food I eat each day measures up nutritionally. I never get enough vitamin K or E without my multi-vitamin.

I tried it or something like it, and I thought it would be great, and after a few days I felt paranoid, nervous, and totally stressed out. o_o It was bizarre, but apparently this method just won't work for me.

I found fitday's user interface excessively frustrating, so I'm using sparkpeople.com instead. Also free. Recommended.

I looked it over, and yeah, it looks really good. Maybe I'll try it. Have you gotten spam as a result of signing up (other than the site's e-mail newsletters, I mean)? They say they don't share your e-mail, but I'm curious.

Well, I get so much spam (my email addresses are old and I refuse to give them up) that I don't know that I would notice if I got a little more from a particular web site, but I haven't gotten anything from sparkpeople that I didn't agree to get, and when I turned one thing off it stayed off.

I've used Fitday for a few years. One warning, though. After I'd been using it a while, I liked it enough that I wanted to buy the software version. But there isn't any way to convert online version data into software version data. So I got a refund on the software I'd bought (they were very nice about it), and went back to the online version, since I didn't want to lose all that accumulated data.
