The awesomeness of orthodontia

Delia's retainer cracked, so we had to get another one, which we picked up this morning. It is zebra-striped! It comes in a purple case. Mere words cannot fully express the awesomeness of her new retainer.

Mom and Dad think it's even more awesome that Fiona's canine and 12-year molars are coming in straight (since we pulled some of the bicuspids), but they aren't in all the way yet, so Fiona's braces don't start until after the first of the year.

Our pocketbook is very grateful.

I'm so jealous of all the braces and retainer choices kids have these days. Back when I was a kid, the only exciting thing I ever got was a glow-in-the-dark retainer. Everything else was boring plastic and (for the braces) stainless steel...

Geez, kids these days. Back when I had to have a retainer I had to walk 16 miles to the dentist, uphill both ways, and... Wait a second, I never had a retainer. What was I thinking?

You know, one of the coolest things I ever saw was a little girl in an official looking Barbie wheelchair--it was purple.
