I owe [livejournal.com profile] sartorias heartfelt thanks for introducing me to Pandora. I love it. This is a free site where you input the musical artists that you like, and it suggests other musicians you might like and plays their music for you. All legal, giving license fees to the artists. I've already discovered a few new musicians I'm very pleased to know about. Thanks!

Edited to add: It's only licensed for U.S. listeners, though. Sorry.

Isn't this wonderful--it truly is a win/win.

I've already exchanged e-mail with one new artist I discovered on Pandora--the guy is so talented, and was talking about his future work. I told him how inpsiring I found his music.

I used to use it a lot and never had any problems, even though I accessed it from Australia. *shrugs*

I tried Pandora, and was very happy with it for a while, and then the same songs started to repeat and repeat. That was a few months ago, so maybe they have more music available now. Unlike Spinner.com (devolved into Radio@Netscape Plus and too expensive now), I haven't discovered any new musicians. Yet, at least. Spinner.com brought me Dave Carter, Tracy Grammer, Tom Russell, Rick Fielding, Hugh Blumenfeld, and others I can't remember now, all of which were new to me.

I've been using Pandora for many months and noticed the same thing. But it seems like new songs are added in what I can only call spurts. It'll be the same stuff every day for a while, and then boom, I'll hear several new songs on the same day. Maybe the more users they have, the more clout they have to get rights to additional songs? My biggest problem is that it keeps introducing me to fabulous songs that I can't buy from iTunes!

Oh hey... just to be clear although I am the founder of http://pandorastations.crispynews.com, I am no THE Tim, founder of Pandora.com and the Music Genome Project. That would be Tim Westergren!

Thanks,

Tim (but not THAT Tim!)
