What happened in the governor's race? Still getting over bronchitis, and didn't stay up to watch election results. Know what they are for *our* state since the local news was full of results this morning, but didn't hear much about others.
My word, it has been an awfully long time since I was back there. The last time was about 7 years ago, as a matter of fact, for my best friend's wedding.
(Wish that didn't sound so much like a movie title! *snork*)
I surely don't miss the winters. But the friends I still have there are *solid*. (and that's not frozen solid, either)
Our governor for the past four years has been Tim Pawlenty, a Republican. He made a I-will-not-raise-taxes pledge, despite the state's financial condition, which meant that he gutted education and health programs. He faced a Democrat, Mike Hatch. They were in a dead heat, but Hutchinson ran as an independent, taking votes from Hatch, and so Hatch lost by less than half a percent.
So we're stuck with Pawlenty for another four years. And my girls' classes are just going to get bigger and more crowded.
