I've held it off quite well these past few months with my walks outside, and I walked outside today (5 degrees F) but . . . in just the last day or two, winter darkness has hit. Hard. Bad.

Gah.

Am feeling flattened. And disappointed. I really had been doing so well.

You have been doing so much better, and you'll get through it so much better, as well. Keep walking. Keep walking.

Love, Kij

I had one of those days recently. It just seems to come out of nowhere. You think you're doing ok, maybe not on top of the world but ok, and then, *wham* without warning...

But it does get better. Hang on to that. Though it's hard to believe it's possible, when you're in the middle of it, it will pass. I didn't used to believe that, but I learned to think back on previous Black Holes that felt like "forever"... but they passed, at last. Better days came, days to savor embraces and little quirks and wilted bouquets clutched in sweaty palms (maybe not literal ones, but I hope you know what I mean.)

*hugs*

But, hey! only two weeks to Solstice and days start getting longer! You've made it this far and it's just a little more to go. If you can brave the cold for a walk today (and I bet the wind was whipping along the river...) you can hang in there for at least that long.

Two weeks and the sun comes back! So if this is where things go really bad, at this amount of night, it'll only last for a month, which is not the entire winter.

We have a new growth chamber in lab that has almost all wavelengths, about as strong as the sun. I think the phyto research group's going to set up a camp in there until the sun comes back.

Seasonal depression that usually starts several weeks earlier, and you've held it off long enough that there's less than two weeks till winter solstice? That's _damn_ good.
