Go to www.ebaumsworld.com and find the flash animation "The End of the World." My all-time favorite funny vid, and the source of many, many quotes.

Yesterday my husband read me a true story posted at a Fiat (cars) board he frequents, something that happened to a friend of his recently.

Steve left his car in the airport parking lot. Because he tends to forget where he parked, he wrote down the number of the parking spot and stuck it in his pocket. Amazingly, the number was still in his pocket when he got back and went looking for his car.

Which he couldn't find.

So he dragged his luggage around as he searched the whole lot.

Then he stopped and called his wife.

"Our white Honda has been stolen from the airport parking lot. Can you come and get me? I'm going to call the police while I wait."

"Our white Honda is in the driveway," his wife replied. "You drove our dark blue Ford to the airport."

Steve hung up, somewhat embarrassed. Then he reached down for his suitcase and realized the car he'd just been leaning against was a dark blue Ford. His dark blue Ford.

Takarazuka (Japanese all-female musical revue) links:
- Kiriya Hiromu from the Takarazuka Moon Troupe doing a short, cute dance from their production "Jazzmania" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JjWKCfF8bM)
- "A Handbag Is Not a Proper Mother (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQWuG9WAK6M) from the Moon Troupe's production of "Ernest in Love" (their musical adaptation of Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest), starring Sena Jun
- "Mr. Bunbury" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqLNrI9CH1c) from the same production

Also (NOT Takarazuka):
Yatta! (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6616479032362244465&q=yatta), which features a bunch of Japanese men wearing underwear and giant green fig leaves on their crotches, so may not be entirely worksafe, but it's so darn upbeat and cheerful and everything else, I end up grinning like a fool every time I watch it. The only way I got through six months of approaching layoff at my last job.

Well, when I need a good laugh, I go looking for the Asylum Street Spankers on YouTube. Unfortunately, most of their videos aren't work-safe due to smatterings of language here and there but their bluegrass/scat tune "Jerry the Junker" is safe, fun, upbeat and happy! If you have some headphones to protect the delicate ears of your co-workers, have a look at their others, particularly "Put A Yellow Ribbon On Your S.U.V."

Damn, he's good. And in seriously good shape - he made that breakdancing look effortless. Thanks for the smile.

I don't think I have anything new to share. What usually cracks me up is to turn the "Dialectizer" on any given text, and see what turns up.

Cockney:
It is a truff universally acknowledged, right, that a singgle man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a ole lady. However wee known the bloomin' feelings or views of such a man may be on 'is first enterin' a neighbourhood, right, this truff is so well fixed in the chuffin' minds of the surroundin' families, right, that 'e is considered as the rightful property of some one or uvver of their daughters. "Me dear Guvnor Bennet," said 'is lady ter him one day, right, "have yer 'eard that Nefferfield Park is let at last?" Guvnor Bennet replied that 'e 'ad not. "But it is," returned she; "for Mrs. Long 'as just been 'ere, and she told me all about it." Guvnor Bennet made no answer. "Do not yer want ter know 'oo 'as taken it?" cried 'is ole lady impatiently. "Yer want ter tell me, right, and I 'ave no objection ter hearin' it." This were invitation enough. "Why, my dear, yer must know, Mrs. Long says that Nefferfield is taken by a yung man of large fortune from the norff of England; that 'e came dahn on Monday in a chaise and four ter see the place, and were so much delighted wiv it that 'e agreed wiv Guvnor Morris immediately; that 'e is ter take possession before Michaelmas, right, and some of 'is servants are ter be in the house by the end of next week." "Woss 'is name?" "Bingley." "Is 'e married or singgle?" "Oh! Oi! singgle, my dear, to be sure! Oi! A singgle man of large fortune; four or five fousand a year. Wot a not so bad fin' for us girls!"

Jive:
