Oh no. Not the Evil Eye. We've had it twice this year, thanks to that festering pit of carrier monkeys I like to call my son's preschool. Poor Peg, and poor family.
Remember, sometimes compulsive handwashing can be a healthy thing!
Let me share my grandmother's cure -- I don't know whether it actually /works/ or just makes your eyes feel better and gets heat and moisture in, but it does seem to help.
Take two camomile teabags, put them in hot or boiling water (I'm thinking hot for the girls because, you know, boiling water and all). After the tea has mashed for a couple of minutes, stir and take out the teabags, allowing them to cool slightly. Don't squeeze the water out of them. Lie back and put the teabags over your eyes, making sure to blink every so often so that the camomile-water gets into your eyes.
I wonder if that works for allergy-irritated, puffy, gunky eyes, too? Might give it a try; I'm glad to see spring, but the tree pollen in Minneapolis has been just evil.
