Going back to full time work

Rob and I had our usual Monday night money meeting. We looked at income and outgoing expenses, including having to come up with deposits for summer camp, summer programs, and daycare being more than twice as expensive per week when school lets out. Estimate to repair/replace the tile and grout on the tub, replace damaged drywall, etc.: $650.00.

Damn. I was really hoping to avoid it, but there's just no way around it.

I'm going back to work full time next week. Losing my morning writing time.

This is really depressing.

I haven't noted you before, but I added you to my flist after reading Cassie's VSD for you.
I just took a full time job too (3 weeks ago), and I was also worried that I would lose my writing time. But it's weird...now that I'm even more pressed for time, I've become way defensive of writing space I can make. When I had no day job I never got any writing done, and now that I'm working I'm as prolific as I've been in years. So maybe it'll all work out...wishing the best for you. :)

I've written two books while working full time as a legal secretary. But it seems more difficult now, first because the kids are older, and second (I'm almost embarrassed to admit) because now I'm on the Internet, such a lovely distraction.

Barry Longyear once remarked that one has to carve time for writing out of the rest of one's life with a meat ax. And I know how to do this--for example, I haven't watched television for over ten years. But with the kids older and busier, it just seems more difficult.

*Sigh.* I hope to be able to go back to my present schedule (with writing time in the morning) when the summer is over, though.
