Fiona asked me for links to some good Harry Potter fanfiction. I had already turned her on to [livejournal.com profile] psychic_serpent's novels and she devoured them and wanted something else.

So I gave her the link to The Naked Quidditch Match (which, if you haven't read it, I think is just about the most hysterically funny fanfic story I've ever read). She absolutely loved it. (And the story is even funnier in retrospect, what with all the kerfluffle that broke out about Dan Radcliffe taking the part in Equus.)

She needs more recommendations. She's looking for something probably about PG-13 or lower, please, and has specifically requested "something funny." I don't think she's wedded to any particular ship, but probably would prefer het. (She has read The Wild Swans). Thanks.

Edited to add: Completed works only, please.

It's a pity that Chapter 10 (11?) seems to have disappeared from the web - the last page at your link points the http://www.daisygrrl.com/, which no longer has any fic on it.

I love copperbadge's 'stealing harry' story, and if you follow the links there is a pg-13 version (otherwise, it's Remus/Sirius). pyschic_serpant, when I was in high school I started those, but gosh, there's just SO MUCH, so I never finished. Good on her.

I would also mention that as a cautionary note, when I worked at camp, I got lots of my older campers (13-16) to read the Draco series, but at that time DV was just getting started, and when it went all crazy and there was the polyjuice brothel, I was so bothered by the fact that I had recommended this to young teens who had even younger friends, that I stopped recommending WiP stories.

Pathetically, I can't think of any other stories I find really funny, as much as I love laugh-worthy fanfic.

This makes me feel so old (though I am not) because when I started reading fanfic, you could go through it on your own...I started with Star Wars, and when ff.net first started I could just scroll quickly through new submissions and find good stuff. Oh the days.

So basically, I've got nothing.

I had thought of Stealing Harry myself and went to check the rating and was disappointed that it was an R. I didn't know there was a PG-13 version! Thanks, I will check it out.

well, I think on the chapters where it has sex, you have the choice of pg-13 or r/nc-17

Oh pshaw. It's better than me snitching romance novels from my mom's room. At least she knows her mom has a sense of humor and is forward thinking and modern. She'll be much more likely to come to you with issues if she knows you won't fly off the handle.

Also, thank you for the recs! Naked Quidditch Match is making my day. :) I'm afraid I don't have any you wouldn't already have thought of (DD/DS/DV?) because I've not read fanfic in years. It was too hard finding good stuff and keeping up with ongoing series and I got distracted by life.

I love the Draco/Neville stories by A.J. Hall, which can be found here.

They're slash in terms of the relationship, but are PG-13 or less in terms of content.

And they're comedies of manners.

Does she know about [livejournal.com profile] shoebox_project? It's Marauders fic; there's some Remus/Sirius romantic angst, but it mostly centers around their schoolboy pranks.

I'd recommend shoebox as well. It doesn't get slashy til near the end. Parts of it are pretty hilarious.

It's been a while since I read it but I loved Draco Malfoy the Amazing Bouncing... Rat? by Maya ([livejournal.com profile] mistful when I first read it and it's PG 13 (Draco/Hermione) and hilarious. Some of her one shot stories on Riddikulus might be good too.

I was trying to think of others but they all seem to have at least one or two chapters of R/NC17 in the middle unfortunately.

This one is funny: A Run in Tights. PG to PG-13.

Also, The Revenge of Lord Vodkamort, but it features drinking (a LOT of drinking), ymmv. PG-13, definitely. And sort of related is Mousapelli's Return of the Dark Lord. (Careful with The Rat Box, there's pr0n on the main page, and lots of it.)

And a sweet story about Harry and a motorbike, Triumph of the Last Marauder.

There's also Out of the Bag, gen. Young Snape, oddly sweet.

And The Doll Army, with young Dora Tonks and her dashing cousin and his friends. There's a sequel, Your Very Own Dora.

I have loads more, if you'd like. Let me know. :)

I really loved Harry Potter and the Polka Dot Plague, which is funny and has Snape quarantined with Harry (it was written before HBP).

I also remember enjoying Midnight by the Weasley Watch, which is about Ron and chess and... well, okay, Snape again, but it's PG too. I swear!

How about "FIrst One to get Eaten" - a G rated story that features young Marauders stuck on a roof-top in the middle of a prank, trying to decide who they would eat first.

Is she only into Harry Potter fic? Would she at all be interested in LotR? Stories of Arda is a pretty safe archive for younger readers, and if she loves humor, I would recommend just about any of Grey Wonderer's "Trust a Brandybuck and a Took" stories.

She does like LOTR fanfic and has been reading quite a bit of it lately (I've passed along a number of LOTR recommendations for her) but I think the news about the movie and book coming out has gotten her into the mood to read Harry Potter. I actually had many more links to suggest for LOTR than for HP.
