Rob did not get the Thomson-West job. They had asked him to send them some information they needed to evaluate his application. He got it to them the day before the deadline they'd given him, only to learn they'd decided they had enough candidates and closed the application process two days before the date they'd originally indicated. edited to add: Perhaps I may have misunderstood Rob about the sequence of events/deadlines. I'll ask him again. At any rate, we seem to have missed a deadline somewhere.

I'm pretty upset about this. I had pinned too many hopes on his getting this position--simply because we needed him to get it, and Rob was very confident he could, and that it would be an excellent fit for him.

Please continue to send us any job leads you may have for Rob. Now we are back at square one, and I must admit, I'm starting to get pretty getting increasingly scared about facing this uncertainty about our future.

Oh, Peg! :( I'm so sorry. That's rotten. :(

*hugs*

I wish I had some words of consolation, but I fear there are none I know of for something like this. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sorry. If it's any consolation, it's usually not the best qualified candidate that gets the job. The person that gets hired is the one the hiring manager feels will be least risky as an addition. Networking and all that is the usual recommended path. There's some good books out there on that.

Wow, what a rotten thing for them to have done to you! I'm sorry. I hope he finds something soon.

I'll mention this to HR here. We're a Thomson company so it can't hurt to send it up the line that pulling the rug out like this is idiotic and they may be robbing themselves of the most qualified candidates for no good reason.

Speaking of networking . . .

I know Dave Wixon either does or did work at Thomson West; probably worth a phone call.

I wonder...

I don't know what Rob's specific computer skills are, or if this is even remotely a job he'd be interested in, but Llewellyn is looking for a data specialist.

Well, crap. :-(

I think I sent you this link before, but just in case:
HealthPartners is hiring a LAN administrator. I think you mentioned he did networking stuff at CompUSA.
