I tried on this dress at Ann Taylor yesterday, and I was so stupifyingly gorgeous that I almost broke the damn mirror right there in the dressing room:
If Rob wasn't out of a job, it would have been MINE. *Sigh*
I think that dress is made for someone with dark hair and fairly pale skin - I can believe it was gorgeous on you.
If I weren't very far from the nearest Ann Taylor (and if I could think of anywhere to wear it!) I'd consider trying it on myself. Especially since AT carries petites!
They sometimes have things on rock-bottom sorts of sales after a bit, so I will hope that that happens just as Rob has a new job, and then everybody will be happy. Because yes, I can picture that on you quite easily.
(I got my new brown sundress from their clearance rack. They will go awhile without having anything I want and then all of a sudden they'll have things that make me fall in love.)
It is SO DANGEROUS to try things on at Ann Taylor. The clothes are just well made and well cut, so it's almost guaranteed to fit, and if it is *you*.... maybe it will go on a good sale. AT does have good sales.
That is lovely! The effect they create with the patterning is quite cleverly done, and beautiful.
It's harder to do this with clothing than most things, but if the writing on the tag is unique enough, it's possible to put in a standing search on eBay. That's the kind where they search for you, and only email you when results come in.
I've been doing that for a $795 Faconnable goatskin coat I liked at Nordstrom's, which even marked down to $500 and some, then marked down again to $396, was way out of the question. But all things come to those who wait.
I loved this dress too. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), it looked awful on me. It needs a taller body, and darker hair; I can see how this would be perfect for you.
That *is* lovely. If it gives you hope, though, I have *never* bought anything at Ann full MSRP -- and about 50% of my wardrobe is Ann! They put good stuff on sale *so* often, and always send coupons in the mail -- just this weekend I bought a dress from them -- $198, marked down to $129, and I had a 20% coupon so I paid something like $105 all told. Still more than I would normally pay for a dress, but a lot better than the original.
Keep your eyes open! I'll keep my fingers crossed. =)
