I teach Tarot, and one of the first things I do with new students is to try to persuade them not to use The Celtic Cross for every single reading that they do - especially not at first. If you are an absolute beginner, I suggest that you stick to readings of three to five cards (for most purposes). The more cards there are, the more they confuse the issue for anyone who is not experienced. I recommend linear spreads - as in past, present, future. If using five cards instead of three, they can stand for the more distant past, recdent past, present, near future, and more distant future. If a card confuses you anywhere, draw another to clarify it.
Also, I recommend you don't worry too much about reversed cards at present - it's much more to remember, and there are lots of negative cards as it is. Read them all as upright for the time being, and you'll get the right cards for the message they are trying to impart.
A Suggestion to Make
