From lifehacker_rss: Mailbox Maps is Google Maps mashup that shows you the closest set of mailboxes and the pickup times at each so that you can be sure to get your package out on time.

All you have to do is enter your address. Mailbox Map quickly shows you the nearest mailboxes, and clicking on the mailbox icon shows you the pickup information.

I'm Not Convinced This Does What it Purports to Do

It seems to indicate that our house is between 34th and 35th streets (which it isn't), and that the closest blue mailbox to the house is at 36th and Bryant (which I think is unlikely). If I change our address slightly (from 2456 to 2500), it locates our house somewhere in the general vicinity of Minnehaha Parkway. Not that it matters, much, to me - if I want my mail to go out quickly, I drop it off at the Roseville Post Office, which seems to do an extremely good job of getting mail elsewhere ASAP. And if I *really* need something postmarked and on its way, I head to the Airport Post Office.

I can attest from personal experience that mail is often NOT picked up from blue mailboxes, even the ones in the PO parking lots, at the pickup times listed on the boxes. So when a correct postmark is important - when sending off a check to pay quarterly estimated taxes, to choose an example at random =) - you'd better take it to the nearest central post office, not the nearest blue mailbox.
